Holiday snap

I'm thankful for the friends and family in our lives. I'm thankful for a beautiful girl that stood in line to see Santa and asked for socks. She is so wonderful and bright and smart and can be irritating and prideful and stubborn like her momma. She's my super hero loving, horse whispering, play dough playing, unit block building, imaginative and awesome kid.

Her mind is full of questions and big ideas. She loves books and snakes and dragons and lions and I love that she is so curious and is always seeking to learn more.

Aurora has grown so much in the past months. She wears size 12 shoes, and size 6 in clothes. She has strong opinions about her clothes. She wants to be awesome instead if cute.

My big hearted baby girl is growing too fast.

This, sweet friends, is what it's all about.

Wednesday Wardrobe

This morning Aurora decided to wear something a little more fancy. She picked out a dress that I told her was not really a dress for school and for playground play, so we compromised and chose this dress instead. This ensemble is complete with purple snake necklace and purple sneakers.

Howl O Ween

Halloween was great. I asked Aurora to close her eyes so I could paint the lion eyes. And as she sat so nicely getting her face painted, the sweet girl fell fast asleep. It's a tough life to be 5 you know!!

We trick or treated with some of our friends, then came home to pick our favorite candies before the great pumpkin came to leave a present.

The great pumpkin brought Aurora a beta fish, that she has named "rainbow toucan."

Pumpkin carving

We carved our pumpkins this weekend! We had such a good time! Aurora chose to carve a wolf in her pumpkin! She did a great job working on it, with just a little help.

October catch up

I came down with pneumonia and haven't been up to my usual shenanigans. So here is a catch up post for this month. Aurora is developing her sense of style (if you can call it that.) She's such a bright opinionated person, I'm so blessed to have her everyday. Talking to her each day about what went on at school, what she is learning, what she likes, who she knows - I'm always thankful to know that I get to choose to be interested and a part of that.

Birthday party fun

Aurora had a great snake birthday party! With some superheroes thrown in there too. We had an amazing animal show from the good people at Animal Trax.

Aurora was able to hold snakes, tarantulas, scorpions, and feed a tortoise. The party was wonderful!

Jasmin made a great cake and set of cupcakes for Aurora.
Snake like and DELICIOUS!

A baby Bearded Dragon on her head
Holding  Corn Snake
Wet Willies!!

ooooh the scorpion gave me the heebie jeebies, but not Aurora. She was so brave.
Super Hero capes and they are ready to go!

Happy Birthday to Aurora

I am the mother to a brilliant, beautiful, sassy little five year old girl. She is smart and confident and asks great questions. She reads books about snakes, helps to cook in the kitchen, and plays super hero games with the kids on the playground. She loves lions and tigers and snakes and dragons. And I a do proud that she is in my life every day, happy birthday to my sweet sweet Aurora.

It was a good day today with Aurora. She went to school and shared Oreos with her class and got to wear a crown in class! After school we came home and had Riley (the boy) come over to play. We went to the movies to see Paranorman. Aurora had a great time sharing popcorn with him!

When we got home the table was covered in birthday cards for Aurora! She loved opening them all! Next we got to talk on the webcam to Grammie and Granddad as Aurora opened the presents they sent!

Aurora's birthday continues tomorrow, with the party and a live reptile show! what fun!
There will be more pictures tomorrow!
