Gone Fishin'

We spent Sunday at Smith Lake with our close friends the Nelsons. Aurora went fishing for the first time, using her pink princess fishing pole that she got for her birthday last year. She caught 1 brim, and one catfish (I don't have a photo of the catfish, because I was videoing the catch. I will try to get it uploaded soon for you to see)  The day was sunny, the weather balmy, and just perfect for fishing and swimming.

Wednesday Wardrobe

These keep getting posted on a Friday, but Friday doesn't sit nicely beside 'Wardrobe' so the title will remain the same. Besides, I DID take the photo on Wednesday!

this week: 2 outfits, because they are just so... well, so Aurora. First up, the animal print and lime green outfit. Nana bought this for her, and it has become a favorite summertime ensemble.

back yard swinging with Samuel and Evelyn.
The 2nd outfit of the week is a super sweet floral dress, complete with... SNOW BOOTS! yes, that is right, snow boots in May. I am not even sure that these fit her size 9.5 feet any more. But they did match, and they do keep the fire ants away when she plays outside.

I saw the sign....

We found this neat toy upstairs, Aurora has been having so much fun playing with it, making the impression of her face, ears, hands, feet, toys.... the list goes on and on.  here she was showing us the ASL sign for 'I love you'

April showers bring May ... heat waves?

What a hot May it has been so far, 90 degrees already! today we went to the store and bought a sprinkler and kiddy pool. Mojo was as thankful to have the cool water to splash in as Aurora was. We all sat out in the yard and played for the afternoon.
Earlier this week we went to Bridgestreet Center and played for a while in the fountain. Aurora found an orange cone.....

and of course, it went right on her head. :)

Evelyn and Jasmin met us there, I just love my little god-daughter. I just find her to be the 2nd most adorable little baby I have ever in my life seen. I love her toes, I love her nose, I love her smile... and that scrunchy up nose thing she does. She just started the walking thing, but still does this awesome knee strut that ends in this resting pose....  such cute toes.

When the power went out after the April Tornadoes, we decided to head south for the duration of the blackout. What a lovely time we had!

Mother's Day

the flowers that i got in the mail, with a card that said War Eagle!! Love- Aurora

Happy Mother's Day by the way.

I hope that every mother had a lovely day, and that every one told their mother how much she means to you. I got this lovely bunch of tulips from a very special kind of person, who doesn't know in the slightest how much they meant to me! I have an idea of who it was, and I was so touched by your thoughtfulness that I teared-up... every time I told some one about my flowers (which I took to work with me and told every every everyone about!)

Wednesday Wardrobe

Wednesday, April 27th is the day that the tornadoes came through Alabama. I didn't get a posed WW photo that day, because we were a little busy with the storms rolling through.
This is what I got though - Aurora in her pajamas, playing bananagrams in the basement. and yes, (proud momma moment here) she did spell her name all on her own!!!!
she is learning how to write lower case letters, so the J upside down looked just right.

Minor storm damage in our downtown area, we have been out of power in North Alabama for 5 days and counting. Many homes just a mile away from us were destroyed, we are so thankful that we were spared any major damages.
