Wednesday Wardrobe

It's getting colder out here, it even snowed yesterday. Aurora chose black pants and a grey shirt like I am wearing today! We topped that with her fur lined coat and a scarf.

Beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

We got out the Christmas decorations this weekend! Aurora and I looked through our ornaments and I told her the stories about each on, where we were, who we were with and what we were doing. The first ornament of the year was this one from London. I told her about the horse at the palace and the sign that warned that they may bite. I told her abouthte red phone booths, and the cars that drove on the wrong side of the road.

Aurora hung the first ornament of the year, and we kept on decorating and telling stories and laughing.
Hanging the first Ornament
As the ornaments needed to go higher, I helped Aurora reach the top.
I topped the tree with my Smores topper this year, I love those little charachters!

Kid's tree

We set up a little kid's tree too, this one is decorated in all the ornaments and tree topper from Germany. I wasn't sure I would like the straw decorations, but they are really nice! We are trying a new tradition this year - we are wrapping all our Christmas themed books and putting them under the tree - then each night we will open a new book and read it! how fun!

Our mantel looks beautiful! you can't tell it in the photos but there are snowflake lights all in the garland, and I have added stockings already! I think I love the decorating part of the holidays most of all! Now to wrap and add presents!

Aurora helped set the table for our Thanksgiving dinner. We had the grown up table and the kids table. Our dinner was a great feast of turkey, ham, twice baked potato casserole, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, and rolls. the kids all enjoyed their dinner, and the pie that came after.

We are thankful for a house full of loved ones, friends and family. While our house is full, it s full of love and laughter and something sticky. :)

Trick or Treating 2011

Aurora dressed as Jesse the Cowgirl for Halloween! Our day starteed off like usual, early wake up, have some breakfast.....

"mom, seriously? stop taking pictures! Its just Cheerios."

The cutest cowgirl ever! She took this little soft pony to school for nap time, but told me "Mom, its too small for me to ride!"

Posing next to our pumpkins on Halloween day!
After school and work we came home and got ready to go out Trick-or-Treating. Our friends Danielle and Riley (as Aurora calls him: Riley the Boy, not to be confused with Rylie the girl!) came over to join us. Aurora took her stick pony with her this time.

"Giddy Up!"

Ringing the bells, they took turns - and then would peek in the windows.
Cowgirl America!!!!

At some point in the night Riley and Aurora traded accessories - thus transforming Aurora into.......

As the night drew to an end the kiddos gave up and rode in the Wagon. It was a great night. we went through Aurora's candy haul and picked out 10 pieces. The rest we left in a bag for the GREAT PUMPKIN to come and get.

For those of you not 'in the know' about the Great Pumpkin.... let me tell you....

The Great Pumpkin comes in the night and takes away your Halloween candy, then leaves you a gift in its place. This is great - Aurora is happier with a gift than she would be with hoards of candy (and so are her teeth!) This year the Great Pumpkin left her a new color wonder coloring book of Dinosaur Train!
